Our History

 We finished up our history unit in which we looked back on the history of Lanesboro and Minnesota.  We start this unit by looking and discussing early pictures of Lanesboro.  It's so fun for the kids to see the changes in Lanesboro over time.  We were able to look through several pictures of Main Street to see the changes from the early 1900's to the present.  The most interesting changes to see were how the dam area once had a lake behind it, and now there is the football field.  We learned about the Dakota Native Americans and their history in Minnesota.  We looked at cave pictures of drawings and imagined the stories they were telling.  The class enjoyed making their own pictograph art.  We completed this unit by sharing our own timelines of our lives.  The students were proud and excited to share their timelines with each other!
