Cookbook Purchases!

Many of our purchases made with our cookbook funds have arrived in 2nd grade!  The students decided on their needs as expo markers, pencils, and pencil sharpeners.  Each student got one new expo marker, seven sharpened pencils, and an individual pencil sharpener to use for not only their pencils but also colored pencils.

They decided on 2 new cushions to add to our comfy pillow collection as a want.  These new additions will be great for reading all around the classroom.  The final item they wanted was LED lights for our classroom.  We're still waiting on this to arrive.

Taste Tester #2!

This sweet 2nd grader made "Maverick's Pizza Hotdish" from our 2nd grade cookbook!  It looks delicious!  I hope you enjoyed making it and eating it!  Thank you for sharing your pictures with us!

Cookbook Sales: Paying Back the School

On Thursday Mr. Semmen visited our classroom so we could take care of some business with him.  Part of the lesson in our cookbook sales I hope for the students to understand is that making our cookbooks cost the school money for the paper and printing.  Each year we pay back the school for this cost.  It is always dependent on how many cookbooks are sold.  This year we sold 188 cookbooks, and our printing cost was $86.45.  We lined up with our money and put it in Mr. Semmen's hand.  He generously took only $25 of that amount and donated the rest back to the class.  The class now has $205 to spend on some things that we need, some things that we want, and money to help someone in need.

The class has started brainstorming some items that we need for our classroom.  Some items include pencils, white board markers, and pencil sharpeners.

Some items that the class would like are more pillows, LED lights, and books from the Top 20.

We are still brainstorming who we will donate money to.

Thank you again for supporting us in this economics unit.
