Happy Holidays from 2nd Grade!

What a fun couple days in 2nd grade gearing up for the holidays! Earlier in the week, Mrs. Twait stopped in to teach the students how to play the game of dreidel.  This is a game often played during Hanukkah.  Thank you Mrs. Twait!
On Wednesday, I don't know if the students were more excited about comfy cozy day or our classroom party!

It was finally time for our gift exchange in the afternoon!

Have a wonderful holiday everyone!  Enjoy this magical time!

Taste Tester #1

This former student was one of our first customers on Monday morning, and she wasted no time trying out a recipe!  She said that "Maverick's Pizza Hotdish" was fantastic!  Thanks for being our customer!

2nd Grade Cookbooks for Sale!

We completed day 3 of our cookbook sale, and we are off to a great start!  We set an original goal of 100 cookbooks sold, and we surpassed our goal today!  We will continue to sell until Thursday, December 22nd.  It's so fun to have customers stop by our room.  We've had teachers, high school students, elementary students, and even a preschooler stop in to buy a cookbook.  Thank you to all for supporting our economic project!  Once our sale is complete, we use the money to pay back the school for our printing supplies, pick out items for our classroom that we need, items that we want, and use the money to help someone.  This project is so fun and meaningful for the class!

We've Got Mail!

Every December in 2nd grade, we write letters and send them out around the school.  Writing is one of our favorite times of the day!  All the letters that have been written and put in our mailbox, are delivered around the classroom and throughout the school.  The students cannot wait to get mail!  After writing a letter, students sign up for a conference with me.  I go over their letters with them looking for complete sentences, correct letter conventions, and we go over a few words that may need to be fixed up for spelling.  It is a motivating and fun way to apply our writing skills!

Holiday Concert

The students did a great job Monday night at the holiday concert!  The kids are so excited to see each other all dressed up and perform for their families.  They had so much fun with that last song!

Holiday Reindeer

The holidays are such a magical time with young children!  On Friday afternoon we enjoyed making a holiday craft while we listened to holiday music.  These reindeer turned out so cute!
