Halloween Fun!

 The students couldn't wait to get into their costumes!  They had a fun afternoon!

Spunky Punky

 Thank you for all that were able to attend our performance of Spunky Punky!  The class worked so hard to memorize their lines and put the play together.  They loved performing for other classes on Thursday and for their families on Friday.  Below are pictures from Thursday class performances.

Crankenstein Writing

 We finished our own Crankenstein books and shared them with first grade.  The class started this writing project with 4 ideas that make them cranky.  These are light hearted ideas that we can laugh about because we all get cranky from time to time!  Some of their ideas were waking up early, going to bed early, or losing your favorite toy.  Once these ideas were brainstormed, the students wrote their ideas in complete sentences, conferenced with Mrs. Howard, then wrote their sentences into their small books and added illustrations.  We were excited to invite first grade to our room to share our writing!

What Turns You into a Crankenstein?

 Last week we read the book "Crankenstein" by Samantha Berger.  This funny book takes us through all of the things that makes the main character cranky, like waiting in line for a ride, when it's too cold on Halloween, and when it's time to wake up.  We made our own Crankensteins, and we're currently working on writing our own little books about what turns us into Crankensteins!

You're Finally Here! books

 Within the first weeks of school we read the book "You're Finally Here!" by Melanie Watt.  Then we went to work writing our own little books about what we were doing this summer that kept us away from 2nd grade for so long.  We started with a bubble map for our ideas.  We put our ideas into complete sentences.  Then we added our sentences to our little books and illustrated.  Our books are all done and down on our rug for the class to enjoy reading!

Doubles Rap

 We finally got to perform our doubles rap today!  We've had so much fun practicing and performing!
